When, in the last 50 years, it becomes necessary for Amaras assoociations and activists abroad and in the country to start asking questions different from that which they used to ask. Amhara movment in the diaspora can only bring a decent respect only by declaring the causes that impel it to such a course. International Amhara Congress is getting shape for the sake of powering up the struggle to safeguard Amhara existance, fair politcs and good governance in Ethiopia.”

AMHARA INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS (IAC) OBJECTIVE
- PRELUDE
When, in the course of the last 50 years, both inside separatists and outside interest cornered Amhara values as a strategy to dismantling Ethiopia’s sociopolitical foundation. For many years diaspora Amhara was hesitant to regroup and confront head-on the cause that impel them to such a course. Over the last two years Amhara groups and intellectuals abroad have pondered to craft organizational strategy to mend fragmentation with in the international Amhara movement. It was obvious Amhara struggle abroad was getting shape and needs greater collaboration among existing Amhara groups. The IAC initiative is a continuation of the quest for a more comprehensive and representative Amhara platform commensurate with the current need for international based Amhara leadership
- PURPOSE
1-to develop institutional capacity for Amhara organizations abroad that empowers them with the tools for influencing changes on the half- of- a-century Amhara sociopolitical destruction and dismay
2-to encourage Amhara populous abroad to identify coordinated and well thought out resolution on week-to-week basis and guide the direction of the struggle for peace and unity in Ethiopia
3-to design and implement grand and sustained strategies for mobilizing resources to empower Amhara aspiration for peace a & development in Ethiopia.
- MEMBERSHIP
- Congress membership and will be through approved delegates of state/country Amhara social groups and associations in USA, Canada, Europe Africa, Middle East and Australia, Businesses, Amhara Medias, Notable Personalities, scholars and artists based on the criteria to be ratified during the first congress
